Happy New Year!!!!

Well, it's the last day of 2010 and this year has been a rough one for me.  I so hope and pray that 2011 is the best year yet, not only for myself, but for all my friends and family!  I plan on bringing it in doing the things I love the most- watching television and coloring OR sleeping, LOL  I can't promise I won't sit down to start coloring with my new watercolor pencils and slowly drift into a dream world all my own :)  Whatever you may be doing as the ball drops, I hope it is with someone you love or doing something you love!  *Hugs* and farewell to 2010!

2011 is almost here!

Where did the year go? Wow, it seems like it was just June and now we are preparing for the end of another year already!  I have LOTS to be thankful for this year in my family and friends.  I doubt I would have made it though without some super special people in my life and for that I am forever grateful!  Christmas has come and gone, but I was lucky in that I could share it with my family and friends.  We had a nice day at Mom's with lots of food, fun and laughter.  ALL the younger ones (17 total I believe it was) received a Nerf Gun at the same time- it was hilarious!  The wrapped packages were placed on the floor and they were all told to get one- Wrappings were flying everyone and then bodies as they ran to get them open to start the war!!!  I have never seen these kids move so fast, LOL  The next thing you see was Nerf Darts wizzing through the air and if you were lucky, past you!  It was so much fun to watch them though and I know they enjoyed it as well.  My favorite gift of all was an insulated cup (go figure) that has a straw in it and it's shaped similar to a take out cup.  I altered it a bit yesterday and added my initial in pink vinyl to it, but I love it!  We were excited to see snow on Sunday but not near as much as some of my friend's received.  I am thankful for the lack of part though, as we would be lost with that much snow around these parts, LOL  Here is a picture I took this morning of the second round, as the first round was melted shortly after it hit the ground.  I hope everyone had a wonderful time and was able to spend their holiday with family and friends as well!  *Hugs* and I pray 2011 is the best year ever for all of us!

Favorite Holiday Recipe

One of my favorite treats of Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinners is "The Green Cake."  It is actually called a Pistachio Crunch Cake but since childhood, we have all called it the Green Cake.  So, I am going to share this cake recipe with all of you in hopes someone else will be adding The Green Cake to their family Traditions as well.
Ingredients:
Duncan Hines Butter Cake Mix
1 box Pistachio Pudding
4 Eggs
1/2 Cup Oil
1 Cup plus 2 Tablespoons Sour Cream
2 Cups Pecans Chopped (we use 1 bag but I can't recall the size)
1 Cup Light Brown Sugar (Use more of Less to your taste preference)
2 Teaspoons Cinnamon (again, Suit your taste on this)
Bundt Cake Pan

Start with a cold oven!!!
Mix together the Cake mix, pudding, eggs, oil and sour cream in one bowl, mix pecans (chopped), brown sugar and cinnamon in a second bowl.
Spray Pan with Pam (or your preferred way of greasing pans) and coat bottom of Bundt Pan with sprinkles of the Cinnamon Mixture, then pour 1/2 cake mix on top of cinnamon mixture, then sprinkle around 1/2 of the Cinnamon Mixture on top of the cake mix in the pan, add remaining cake mix and then the remaining Cinnamon Mixture on top of cake mix.  Bake this in a cold oven at 325 Degrees for 55 minutes.

Due to the Pistachio Pudding added to the cake mix, the cake will come out a beautiful green color- so moist and fluffy!  Everyone in my family just loves this cake, so this year we are doing things a bit differently- My mom and I have both bought several of the tiny cake pans and we are going to make up a bunch of mini cakes so everyone can pick the one of their choosing!
I have seen this recipe all over the internet under a lot of different names and varieties of ingredients and amounts, but this is the one my aunt passed on to me, so it is the one we have always used!  Sadly, I do not have a picture of one of ours at this time, but I found one on the internet that is similar. They do not use the cinnamon/pecan mixture on the top- they went with powdered sugar :).  I WILL take a picture of mine when we make them later this month and post it then!  *Hugs* and Merry Christmas!

Sorry for Being MIA Lately...

I have been SO busy trying to decorate for Christmas, going shopping with mom, making gifts for my Grandmother to give to her friends, embroidering names on my nephew's gifts and trying to keep up with my day to day cleaning along the way!  Sadly, I failed to take pictures of any of the projects I have completed :(  I was just so happy to turn them over to the owners that I forgot.  I do, however, have pictures of my house decorated :)  My family says I go a bit over board as I take almost every item off the walls, shelves, cabinets and such and replace the majority of them with snowmen!  I love my snow people!  So, if you care to see, feel free to browse the pictures below!  I had to move my dining room table to the pc/craft room as the tree rotates and since in the last year I have discovered paper crafting and now have storage drawer bins on the wall with the window I typically put my tree in front of, so I no longer had room for the tree to fit and still spin!  My boys came up with the idea and said they would remove the hanging lamp from the dining room so the tree would fit there as well, LOL  I hope you are all staying warm, as it is super cold in South Carolina (So cold that my water froze during the day- I woke up with water and around 10 or so this morning my nephew informed me it was frozen solid :(, so we are hoping it will defrost before the nightly freeze hits us again).  In the meantime though, I don't have to wash any laundry or do dishes :)  *Hugs*
